Our Charities

If your entering a triathlon isn't challenge enough – how about doing it to raise some cash for a well deserved charity at the same time. We have nominated two charities, one local and one national that we will support as a club and hope you will join us in our fundraising!

Either sign up for a Just Giving (http://www.justgiving.com) account or simply let us know and we'll supply you with the relevant sponsorship forms.

Local Charity – Daisy's Dream

www.daisysdream.org.uk

Every 30 minutes in the UK a child is bereaved of a parent. Daisy's Dream supports bereaved children and their families throughout Berkshire and the surrounding areas. The death of a significant person in a child's life can be devastating and difficult to understand. Daisy's Dream offer support and advice to families, professionals and anyone concerned about a grieving child. From direct work with families in their homes to local events where other bereaved families can meet – the charity is totally dependent on fundraising and donations to deliver this service.

National – Tuberous Sclerosis Association (TSA)

www.tuberous-sclerosis.org

Tuberous Sclerosis (TS) is a rare genetic condition caused by an alteration in a gene. People with TS have growths, sometimes called tubers in different organs of the body (brain, heart, eyes, skin, kidneys, lungs) and may have epilepsy, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and kidney problems. Symptoms vary from one person to another with some people showing very few symptoms and others more severely affected. The TSA provides support for families with suffers and also research grants as this disease as yet has no cure.

Committee member, Maddie Roast's younger sister Gemma suffers with the disease so she has first hand experience of the importance this charity plays in supporting families and sufferers.
