July 2009

Windsor's newest and only triathlon club, Evolution Tri has signed over 50 members since it set up just seven months ago. This is 60% above the clubs initial membership target and clearly demonstrates the popularity of the sport amongst the locals in the Windsor area. This Saturday, 4 July, saw many of the members complete their first race at the Womens' Timex Triathlon at Dorney Lake.

Kevin Wallace, Chairman of the club comments "Saturday was a great day for the club - for many of our female members it was the chance to put all their training into practice. We offered them all lots of support and I know many of them overcame personal fears and challenges to complete it. One of our members could not swim four months ago - let alone in open water."

"We have been amazed at the enthusiasm there has been to join the club and never envisaged that we would be 60% over our membership target so early on. We now have over 50 members, young and old and all of differing levels. I'd encourage anyone looking for a challenge and wanting to meet new people to sign up."

The club were lucky enough to meet novice triathlete and celebrity Linda Barker who also took part in her first triathlon on Saturday.

February 2009

We have nominated Daisy's Dream as our chosen local charity. It helps over 500 bereaved children and their families each year. Two of our committee members, Kevin and Maddie cycled over to Daisy's Dream headquarters in Twyford to meet with the charities staff and discuss how we plan to raise funds. Our charities page has more info on the fantastic work they do here. For more ino on why we chose to support this charity, you can view the press release we sent out here.
