Meet some of the Tri-Crew

Evolution Triathlon Club is run by triathletes of all abilities for triathletes of all abilities. Our committee members and coaches have varied experience and confidence in the sport but share a common passion for making triathlon a more mainstream sporting activity and one that can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone.

Take a look at our profiles to discover some of our quirks but rest assured when it comes to running the club we are true professionals!!

Kevin Wallace – Chairman

Kevin Wallace is Chairman of the Evolution Triathlon Club (ETC) focused on what is most important - YOU !

Kept in line and guided by the ETC Management Team, a team of fabulous ladies (he has really no say in the matter if they decide otherwise), this frees up Kevin to pursue his passion in promoting and de-mystifying that Triathlons can be and are for EVERYONE.

Kevin also runs Evolution Personal Training & Massage, so keeping all of us fit with a fun approach to health & fitness and getting us ready for race-day is always top of his mind (along with offering of sports massages for those needy limbs).

He has introduced many friends and clients to the sport of Triathlon giving them an alternative approach to getting fit, having fun and meeting like-minded people. Through the creation of the Evolution Triathlon Club, he hopes that we can all benefit from his experience and passion to discover this growing sport supported and motivated by like-minded people (our tri crew) along the way.

Also acting as our Head Coach, Kevin is responsible of recruiting the best coaches, accreditation with the BTA and developing a Training Schedule that is both Fun and Functional. The season-based Training Schedules have been carefully crafted with the flexibility to train at OUR level amongst crew members and coaches who can support you to get the results you deserve.

Kevin got into Triathlon 2 years ago after suffering yet another football injury despite everyone was telling him... at 40 he was too old to play! On his road to recovery, he got back on a Bike for the first time in 30 years and it went from there really... whilst Kevin is competitive he approaches this sport mostly for enjoyment and keeping fit, using his long cycle rides as an excuse to stop for tea and cake!

His latest slogan is "all the kit, and still s**t" has stuck as you will see him about in Berkshire looking good with all the latest bits of carbon, lycra etc, only to be beaten by lots of girls on various triathlons!

Lorraine Flower – Treasurer & Secretary

Lorraine has the role of Treasurer and Secretary for the Club which basically means that she is keeping an eye on the 'boring' stuff like finances, Membership administration, health and safety, compliance and generally keeping us on the straight and narrow! Lorraine represents the older female novice amongst the Committee in that she only started Triathlon at the tender age of 46 despite having no sense of herself as an 'athlete'! As a novice she has had a good first season and is looking forward to getting underway with a second next year. Cycling is by far her favourite of the three events despite a few mishaps in the early days – hic!

Lorraine runs her own Leadership and Business development consultancy called azzur working with a range of major companies – their work is centred on the principles of spirituality in the workplace and creating work environments that are uplifting for everyone. Meditation is a great way of building the mental discipline required for sports too!

Travel features as one of the major passions for Lorraine and her journeys have included time in many of the major wonders of the world including the Taj Mahal, Machu Picchu, Victoria Falls, The Grand Canyon and many more...

Hank Jandrell – Member Communications & Welfare Officer

Hank's responsibilities cover all aspects of internal communications to our members, including our weekly emails, texts and spin bookings during our winter training months. He also takes up the roll of running coach on our Wednesday run sessions and bike lead on the Sunday cycles. Being the man on the ground allows Hank to feed members queries, concerns or suggestions back to the committee and visa versa. This allows us to adapt club resources to meet the changing needs of our members. Hank is also a certified level 1 British Triathlon Federation coach.

Hank is relatively new to the fantastic world of Triathlon and comes from a running background. He uses his skills to encourage and enthuse the athletes. His full time day job is that of a sales team leader within the internet sector. This along with 3 young children and wife does create certain challenges which he has been able to overcome by encouraging his wife to take part in her first triathlon, 1 month after starting to the sport. Now his only concern is about ensuring she doesn't beat him!

Joining the Evolution Triathlon Club allowed him to progress from solo to group training, in a very friendly and social environment. This was the perfect catalyst to enhance all aspects of his training. Hank looks forward to seeing you at one of our many training or social events.

Maddie Roast – PR Officer

Maddie is responsible for the clubs PR and if she comes after you for photographs at a race – smile please as you may see them in one of the local papers a few weeks later! Maddie run's her own PR company so has a great understanding of how to make sure Evolution Tri Club gets in to the media as much as possible. She's just waiting for her first front page scoop!

Her main love is cycling (and yes, all her friends consider her a carbon geek) – the other two disciplines are just a must do and although she has taken part in a few races she still considers herself a novice! Maddie was a keen ballet dancer until the age of 18 so is no stranger to lycra but is now enjoying the competitive edge that triathlon offers. Let's just hope she remembers to swap her tutu for a wetsuit! Anyone who knows Maddie will know that she loves to party so it will come as no surprise that she is also helping organise the clubs social calendar!

Alison Brattle – Marketing & Welfare Officer

Alison's responsibilities include keeping the website up to date and other external marketing communications. Getting to as many sessions as work and family will allow (apart from running which she tends to avoid) means that she is able to get feedback from members on what is going well and what they would like to see improved. She plays an active role on the committee and is committed to the success of the club.

Alison is fairly new to the triathlon world having taken it up a couple of years ago. Getting involved with the club has really motivated her. She looks forward to training sessions and has made a network of new friends to gently persuade her to attend when she would rather be watching TV and having a glass of wine. She would encourage anyone new or experienced in triathlon to get involved and join the club as there is something for everyone!
