Our training squads, cater for complete beginners through to children who are showing promise in the sport. Our Bronze Foundation squad is entry level however you can trial straight away for the Development or Performance squad if your child is showing talent in swimming, biking or running.
We will be coaching your child to master and succeed in a range of skills, improve their swimming, gain confidence in bike handling, and run until their hearts’ content! In a safe and convenient locations, we have agreements in place to train the kids in The Great Park in Windsor, a running track, the outdoor Rye Lido pool in High Wycombe and Windsor Leisure Centre & Montem Leisure Centre in Slough.
We also take the juniors out into open water swimming lakes in the warmer months to let your child get a taster for something really new and challenging! For lake swimming we provide club wetsuits that can be loaned.
At Evo Junior Tri Club our aim is simple, to get as many children and young people as possible involved in the world of triathlon and multi sport. Triathlon will really motivate and inspire your children. It involves swimming, cycling, running and the fourth discipline…..transition! It teaches values of hard-work and persistence but above all it will keep your children, fit, active, happy and healthy.
Whether you are a novice or a competitive young athlete already, there is something here for everyone. The training sessions are open to children aged 7 – 16 years old, and the emphasis is on enjoyment and having fun! To take part in our training sessions, children will need a safe roadworthy bike, a helmet, some running trainers and swimming kit.
A triathlon involves swimming, cycling and running one after the other without a rest. The time in-between each bit of the race is called transition and this also counts towards your final time so you have to move from one thing to the next as quick as you can. Triathlons are hard work but good fun! The length of each triathlon depends on how old you are.
An aquathlon is like a triathlon except that you don’t ride your bike. You will start with a swim and swim as fast as you can, before jumping out of the water, putting your trainers on and completing the run. The time spent between the swim and the run is called transition and with practice you can get quicker at this!
A duathlon is like a triathlon but without the swim! Instead, the first swim is replaced with another run so it’s a run-bike-event. Children who don’t like swimming really enjoy duathlons. Some people say they are the hardest type of races because your legs don’t get a rest! Like triathlons and aquathlons, your transition time makes up your final time.
The BTF (the British Triathlon Federation) are the National Governing Body for Triathlon. Evo Junior Tri Club is affiliated to the BTF meaning that you do not personally have to pay to affiliate. At Evo Junior Tri Club we have fully qualified BTF and England Athletics Coaches who not only love coaching, but love racing too!
You don’t need the latest road bike to take part in triathlon, just a well maintained bike in good working order, a helmet and some trainers. If you decide to invest in something better in the future then that’s cool! We have many bikes within the club that get passed around so if you are looking for an upgrade, perhaps another child has outgrown their bike and you can make use of it!
We meet at various locations according to our training schedule, time of year, and type of activity. Below is a timetable of our extensive training schedule with links to the locations.
YES!!
Evo Junior Tri Club operates pretty much all year round! There are times we cannot put training on such as Christmas (when facilities we hire are closed) or certain sessions due to the coaches participating in events like The World Championships or Ironman. The last reason is out of our hands, the weather!! We sometimes have to call off a session but will always try and make alternative arrangements if we can
